I Burned Tonight

I burned tonight
In dreams of past
Flowing with light
Forcing the past
I burned tonight

Imagination it wasn’t
Indication it wasn’t
Fact it has been
For years I have been
In there I have been

Pleasing sounds no more
Pleading pleads no more
Dusky dunes dining away
Drunken deeds dating way
Playing play I see them bay

Friends falling far behind
Forcing changes I stood blind
Changes cladding around
Charms shaping sound
Filtering faces I stay abound

Lost looks looked back
Leafing lovely pages pack
Racking brain with every rack
Reasoning rhyme for this lack
Looming big in my ecstatic dock

Everything spangled till twilight
Everything blazed with daylight
Reasons, I can’t fathom
Reprieve, I can’t scream
Everything, I can’t revert

All this burned me tonight
All along walk of past
Following changing light
Forming figurative past
Along, I burned tonight
